  • Hike the Kīlauea Iki Trail – Descend through rainforest onto a solidified lava lake still steaming from below, surrounded by rugged volcanic terrain and surreal beauty.
  • Walk Through Thurston Lava Tube (Nāhuku) – Follow a short forested trail into a 500-year-old lava tunnel for a glimpse inside Earth’s molten past.
  • Visit the Steam Vents and Sulphur Banks – Stroll the boardwalk near Kīlauea Visitor Center to see vents releasing volcanic gases and colorful sulfur deposits.
  • View the Puʻu Loa Petroglyphs – Hike to one of Hawaii’s largest petroglyph fields, where early Hawaiians carved thousands of symbols into hardened lava rock.
