Bryce Canyon National Park dazzles with otherworldly hoodoos—towering rock spires sculpted by wind, water, and time. The park’s surreal landscape glows in fiery shades of red, orange, and pink, especially at sunrise. It’s a geological  wonder that feels straight out of a fantasy world.

MUST-DO CHECKLIST

  • Hike Sunset Point to Sunrise PointThe Rim Trail meanders between these two points along the rim of the Bryce Canyon Amphitheater, home to the greatest number of hoodoos.
  • Drive the Southern Scenic Drive – Motor along the 18-mile park road, stopping for as many of the nine scenic overlooks and vehicle pull-outs as you like. 
  • Sit for a Hoodoo Geology Talk – Offered year-round at Sunset Point at 11 am, rangers share the evolution of the hoodoos and those who passed through this terrain. 
  • Stargaze – Bryce Canyon’’s high elevation and remote location make it a top stargazing spot. Night sky telescope programs are offered on Fridays and Saturdays, June through July.
  • Go on a full moonhike – This popular nocturnal adventure is a fun way to explore the park with a ranger under the glow of the moon (reservations required via Recreation.gov).

Itinerary Idea: Explore Bryce Canyon with a local guide who explains the area’s geology, history, and wildlife. Visit Fairyland Canyon, see ancient bristlecone pines, stop at Natural Bridge, and take in views of the hoodoos on short scenic walks.
