The Legacy Sites explore America’s history of racial injustice, tracing the journey from slavery to segregation to mass incarceration. Created by the Equal Justice Initiative, these spaces blend storytelling, art, and interactive exhibits to foster reflection and understanding.

  • Reflect at Legacy Plaza – Pause for reflection in this 2.5-acre park featuring statues honoring civil rights icons like Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., and John Lewis.
  • Visit the National Memorial for Peace and Justice – On a Montgomery hilltop, walk among monuments honoring victims of racial terror lynchings throughout the United States.
  • Explore Freedom Monument Sculpture Park – Take a short boat ride to this 17-acre park, where large-scale sculptures and art installations honor the resilience of enslaved Black people.
